Excuses, Excuses

disregarded midnight
and i almost forgot 12 noon
because something was happening
that i don't want to talk about
         here
the walls of this apartment are thick
the soap dish is art deco
a fat cat rolls her eyes possessively
(i have stolen her owner)

we were dancing;
i was shouting "I'm supposed to
    be writing a poem!"
But it was lost in the din.

Life being more substantial
than self reflexive poetry,
I ditched the midnight task.
