Introduction

This was my first time writing at 3:15 AM and it came at a difficult time.  

Today is January 3, 2006.  
My name is Denise Calvetti Michaels.  Calvetti goes back to my great grandmother Caterina Calvetti from Balangero, Italy, who left with my great grandfather for the coal mines of Leheigh, Oklahoma, at the turn of the 19th century. This matters to me, as does the explosion in the coal mine in West Virginia a few days ago.      

Introduction

Welcome to my writings at 3:15 AM during the month of August 2006.  My daughter had just given birth to twins in early June so I was in the habit of around the clock feedings.  My mother came for a visit for two weeks in August to help with the babies.  I'm just now finding the time to post my entries.  It brings me back to that memorable time.  The details of the garden.  Birds, family and babies emerge from my sleep, my dreams.
