My dream angel   solid and
fiercely beautiful   down the hallway
of my youth    more human than
apparition more frightening than holy
arriving back from the dead

is never glamorous      retaking
physical form is no small feat
imagine cramming all that eternity back
inside a shoe that doesn’t fit
blistering soul
burning mind          no time for feathers
