thawing a bottle of wine
in the middle of summer.
slingshots hold no
ballast in summers
such as these. Doors
that access the staging
areas should be more
shut perhaps a skein
yes a skein could be
pulled around the building
wrapped tight
the skein as fishing out
young men caught and
drowned for safe
keeping until they grow
old enough to
worsen their lives
Let’s not fool ourselves
here: it’s hot
HOT we wished
for days as this to
sneak up on us the
slowly warming coal
the days we can all
shed some clothes
and soak up the gaze
that is finally cast
our way
