August 21

With past as prologue we relive, recall
The same words used as if now new
Some on third rounds, sounding same
Worn tunes, those stories we were told
Not to forget, we forgot, now ring again
On chimes we recognize faintly, beat
Drums of great grand's wars, the weapons
Change, yet we pause, pretending peace
Cannot erase the base that bends each
New son to break loose
New righteous wars.
